25 more weeks.....till CHRISTMAS!

I'm the later :)

So my day was completely made today when I went to our local Hobby Lobby and saw this:

Yeah, I know I know, if you're like my scrooge of a sweet husband you hate it, but holidays are my favorite time of the year!! This picture just solidifies that they're getting closer. I love Halloween and Thanksgiving but I do have to admit that my favorite is Christmas. My students and I are always addicted to this countdown: www.xmasclock.com It's great :)

But yes, I am holiday obsessed. I have to watch holiday movies, listen to holiday music, partake in multiple holiday activities and take plenty of holiday pictures. In fact I've already started pinning ideas of holiday pictures I want to take this year. Being a teacher and a mom makes holidays even more fun because kids love them as much as I do...so I'm a big kid?? Probably! That's all for now but prepare yourselves for upcoming holidays as the blog will blow up with holiday posts :)

First Perinatologist visit....and maybe the last!!!

Yesterday I had my first appointment with my Perinatologist. Just a reminder, I'm Type 1 Diabetic and have Hypothyroidism.
I was pretty nervous about what was going to happen at this appointment but as they started my anatomy ultrasound, my unease started to fade. Kidneys look good, bladder looks good, brain looks good, 10 photos of the heart later...heart looks good, 10 fingers, 10 toes, eyes look good, stomach looks good, EVERYTHING looks good! Also, I finally got 100% confirmation that we are definitely having a little girl. The last two times we checked, Olivia decided to cross her legs like a little lady. She's also weighing in at about 8 ounces which is very good for a Type 1 Diabetic Mommy!
I've kept my blood glucose levels pretty tight lately too. When we started planning to get pregnant, my HbA1c was 6.7 and during my pregnancy, I've managed to lower it to 6.3. The doctors like for you to be below 7.0 before you even start trying to conceive.
It's hard work and I'll be the first to admit, I fall off the wagon sometimes. I CRAVE fried food and even when I'm not pregnant, I'm not supposed to be eating anything with breading or anything fried. However, after I eat these things and my blood glucose rises higher than it should be, I'm reminded that I'm not just hurting myself right now. My health is Olivia's health right now.
Another amazing thing about my appointment yesterday was learning that if I keep up the good work and keep my HbA1c low, I may never have to see my Perinatologist again! That also means I will be able to deliver in my hometown too and not over an hour away! It all depends on what my current OB thinks. I'll keep you guys updated.
I've got my firm faith in God that I can do this!

Landon Favorites

It appears my taste for all things baby boy has changed a lot since Liam. When I was preparing for Liam I was obsessed with baby blue and soft yellows. Very subtle. His nursery was based in the same colors as well. He had no true theme to his nursery other than just baby boy and I loved it! It wasn't intentional to surround his room and attire in the same color scheme but was I guess I was just drawn to it. Landon is definitely different when it comes to what I like this go around. Unlike Liam who had no true theme to his nursery, I have become obsessed with this woodland, outdoorsy, adventure idea. Again, even outfits are going right along with this theme. I'm in love with all things navy, deep orange, hunter green and grey. I was so excited to see so much of what I've been looking for and wanting at Carters on Sunday. It made it even better that everything was on sale!

1. Hooded Bear Blanket - This blanket is so soft. I can't wait to wrap my little bear up and cuddle with him!

2. Pants Set - I love these little pants. The navy is a waffle knit and the grey are smooth. My brain still can't figure out though why the onesies come in a set of 3-4 and the pants only 2??

3. Moccasins - Are these not adorable?! What I love most about them is how super soft the inside is. They will be so perfect to keep little baby toes warm this winter.

4. Sleep Sack - First, I love love the little bears all over this. The shirt is covered in bears which is right up there with my woodland theme and there's a little bear embroidered on the front.

5. Onesies 4 Pack - Love love love these colors. These are absolutely perfect. I loved them so much and they were having such a great sale that I bought these in newborn and three months.

6. Raccoon Sleeper - Little raccoon booty?! yes, please and I also love the little hood with the ears.

7. Muslin Blankets - I love the owls and colors that go right along with my loved of woodland everything right now. The link is for the flannel blankets since they didn't have the muslin blankets online, but the store sells them in the same print as a set of two.

There you go! As much as I know I don't need much at all when it comes to a newborn, it's going to be really hard to stop myself when these colors come along. Oh, and foxes, raccoons, and deer and bear things too! I'm really really excited about Christmas pajama shopping soon. It won't be much longer and then you'll have to hold me back. It's my favorite time of the year!! :)

Sunday Funday

This Sunday was a major Sunday Funday! Amy and I took a trip to St. Simons to hear my brother preach. It's always a proud moment for me to witness. I got to see my beautiful niece and sister-in-law before and after the sister. Tay and I couldn't help but take our random selfies together.

After church, Amy and I got to have some yummy food (and satisfy one of my biggest pregnancy cravings) at Barbara Jeans. We both highly recommend the she crab soup and pumpkin bread. I definitely had to bring some home for Rhett and apparently Liam who kept calling it cake.

On the way home Amy and I had to of course make a pit stop at Carters and catch some of their amazing sales (post soon following).

16 Weeks

How far along? 16 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: forgot to check this week... will update for 17 weeks.
Maternity clothes? For this picture I am wearing maternity pants from Motherhood Maternity, but for everyday wear very rarely. I can't wait for school to start back so I can wear all the cute maternity clothes I have bought!!
Sleep: A little better. I think by bladder is growing too because I can hold it longer throughout the night..AKA, I don't want to get up because I'm so tired.
Best moment this week: So far it has been weekly girl time with Amy and just watching Liam be silly and learn and learn and learn. He is picking up on so much these days and it's so exciting :)
Miss Anything? Vacation food (Maybe getting that this weekend)
Movement: No. I swear I felt something last week, but since then nothing. Starting to wonder if I'm imagining it.
Food cravings: Same as last week...crab bisque and Grandys. I'll be visiting the beach this weekend so this will probably be satisfied. I've also been craving large waffles with blueberries and whip cream!!
Have you started to show yet: Must have been all the food last weekend because it's down again. However, my stomach gets pretty large in the evenings.
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: bad headaches this week.
Belly Button in or out? Inny but I really think the outy is going to come soon this pregnancy.
Wedding rings on or off? On and still fitting normally
Happy or Moody: Happy mostly until I get hungry and then Mr. Hyde comes out.
Looking forward to: my birthday date night on Friday. We are suppose to be having a date night which I am so excited about! We plan on going to dinner and seeing a movie. I really want to see Inside Out (Yes, I still watch cartoons and so does my husband...kids at heart) Really looking forward to hearing my brother preach Sunday then fulfilling my preggo cravings after church.

Shopping Trip!

After trying to plan to go shopping Friday and then on Saturday, I was finally able to make it to Motherhood Maternity today! Becca wasn't able to go with me but my sweet, patient husband was forced agreed to drive me :) Grey TankFloral Pants
I also had to go to my favorite store and buy my favorite panties. I'm quite obsessed with VS clothing.
I really love shopping (you can ask anyone who knows me), however; I was so HOT while trying on clothing today! I may do everything in the future online now. Walking around a mall was not as fun as it has been in the past. Also, Macy's did NOT have a very good maternity section so I would recommend going to an actual Motherhood Maternity store instead.
I should have taken a picture but the highlight of our day was smoothies and pretzel dogs from Pretzel Maker. I inhaled the food too fast for a photo-op.

What Does the Fox Say?

Amy and I couldn't help but get these cute little fox sleepers on our Carter's trip. I think we both are obsessed with foxes and navy. I'm really looking forward to taking pictures of our babies in these outfits together once they're here. Too precious!!

Presents for Olivia!

I seriously have some of the best friends! Less than a week after we found out we were having a girl, my best friend, Rachel, shipped me an adorable onesie in the mail. A few weeks later, I set up a surprise for Rachel and helped her dad, who lives in Michigan, come down and surprise her. I surely didn't expect to be getting another gift from Rachel at this time! Rachel and her friend, Sam, made Robbie and I a sweet little hanging board to track how many weeks until Olivia Rae arrives. (Excuse my terrible handwriting.) Auntie Rachel is the best!!!

17 Weeks

How far along: 17 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 11lbs. I seriously can't stop eating but that's honestly nothing new.
Maternity clothes: Adding to my collection pretty regularly. Becca and I are going shopping this week too!!
Stretch marks: OMG I got my first one on my stomach! I've been lotioning up everyday so I'm kind of sad.
Morning sickness: Nope!
Sleep: I'm still tossing a lot at night. My husband has also started snoring so that's fun.
Best moment of the week: I won $50 on a $2 lottery ticket or as I like to call them "Scratchy Card". I never win or buy them for that matter so this is huge HA!
Miss anything: Cuddling with Robbie. I'm so uncomfortable laying down these days :(
Movement: Swore I felt a kick but I think it was just my pulse.
Food cravings: Random things at random times. I'll see something on TV or while I'm out and want that. While getting ice cream yesterday after dinner at Brusters, I saw a hot dog on their Nathans Menu and wanted that with my ice cream. Ew!
Anything make you sick: Still get sick when I'm hungry.
Have you started to show: See picture above HA!
Labor signs: No.
Belly button in or out: In.
Wedding ring: On.
Happy or moody: I'm pretty happy.
Looking forward to: Hopefully buying some colored pants on our shopping trip. I need something other than jeans!

Fabulous Five

I thought I would go ahead a post the 5 things that made my week. It has been wonderful and I am truly blessed! Before I get to my fab five, I'd like to share our new little guy's name with everyone. In case you didn't know, our first little boy (who apparently loves the beach...pic below) is named after his daddy, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is William Rhett the IV. Since we already had a William and his daddy is Rhett we couldn't use those. His grandfather "B" goes by Billy so that was taken. However, I realized that Liam is short for William and Rhett and I absolutely loved it! With this new little guy I wanted to pass on part of my family line. The boys in my family get their middle name from their paternal grandfather so his middle name is going to be Wesley. His first name, I have loved for years, comes from one of my favorite male book characters, Landon (nerdy, I so do not care). Therefor, his full will be Landon Wesley. It already feels so perfect. I can not wait to watch Liam and Landon grow up together and love each other. They both are loved so much already!

FAB FIVE:
First and most importantly we got to see our little boy this week. Even though we couldn't doubt the 12 week ultrasound where he decided to show his gender, they still wanted to double check to make sure he was a he. We are 100 percent sure he is! Landon wanted to display his business in so many pictures. Our little boy seems to be very healthy. I go back in three weeks to check out everything in the anatomy scan. It's one of my favorite things to watch him in the ultrasounds. I told our tech that I wanted one at home (NOTHING would get accomplished if so). Landon is such a wiggle worm but our tech got some amazing pictures! He is absolutely perfect and beautiful.
Second, I am volunterring a few days this summer break at school to help my 6th now 7th graders with their summer reading program. One thing I haven't really mentioned here is my love of books and reading. I am a true bibliophile. My biggest hobby is reading. So it doesn't seem like work to be working with students on reading :) The group I was given was assigned the book, The Lions of Little Rock. It is a historical fiction set in the 1950's about segregation. I hate spoilers so all I can say is READ IT! Yes, it's a young teen book but I never would have known it. I took a picture of a quote I adore at the bottom of the page. "But the truth is, the world is much more like an algebraic equation. With variables and changes, complicated and messy. Sometimes there's more than one answer, and sometimes there is none. Sometimes we don't even know how to solve the problem." So true.
Third, I got to satisfy my cheesecake craving two days ago. This may not sound like something very exciting to some, but many other pregnant ladies out there will agree that preggo cravings are no joke!
Fourth, I had the best pedicure I have had in years this week. I went to the place I always go to but the girl who did them this time knew I was pregnant and seriously took her time...like 45 mins on the massaging before she ever started painting. Yes, I asked her if she wanted to come home with me ;-)
Please excuse my feet. Yes I am aware that if placed patches of hair on top they would look like hobbit feet. I graciously accepted my foot genetics from dear dad.
Fifth and prob least important was Chinese. I mean, how can food in the little containers with the little handle not make someone happy?! It's the little things.

Those little fingers!

Gender Announcement

"This is the start of your sweet little story, the part where your page meets ours. No matter where your tale takes you tomorrow, our story will always read love."

IT'S A GIRL!!! Yes, I wanted a boy. Yes, I'm still happy. No, I didn't take the name from my favorite TV character Olivia Benson. Yes, I will still probably call her Liv.

Robbie, his mom and I went together for my 14 week appointment because we were told we might get to see gender. When Ms. Jane, my fav and the best ultrasound tech, said "Ohhhh this is looking like a little girl", my heart did a few flips but in a good way. I always swore I wanted to have 3 little boys and never wanted girls, but who am I kidding. Every mom wants a girl! We are blessed to have a healthy little baby girl.

We posted the picture above on Facebook about a week later but most everyone already knew. I'm not good with secrets. (P.S. Becca took the photos. In 90 degree weather. With my cranky husband. I love her more than she knows!)

15 Weeks

How far along? 15 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 8lbs Start:135. Too much vacation food? :)
Maternity clothes? Sometimes. Not in this picture. Tribal skirt is from TJMaxx but its a little snug. Size small just doesn't fit the way it use to, haha.
Sleep: A little better minus this weekend when I slept with my 2 year old. He sure knows how to put his head and feet in my ribs. Maybe he was trying to wrestle with Landon already.
Best moment this week: Enjoying vacation with family. Always so good to see my older siblings that I don't see often. Also super awesome to see my brother help baptize people at church. Definitely a proud sister moment!
Miss Anything? Vacation food!!
Movement: I swear I felt a kick but probably not.
Food cravings: crab bisque and Grandys. I satisfied both of these cravings but being away has me craving them again!
Have you started to show yet: I swear my stomach poked out more over the weekend...or maybe it's all the food I ate.
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: constantly having to use the restroom.
Belly Button in or out? Inny but I really think the outy is going to come soon this pregnancy.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody: Happy mostly
Looking forward to: seeing Landon and Olivia this week! girl time with Amy and seeing some of my students this week when I volunteer at school (who goes to school on summer break? This girl!)

Girl's Night!

So You Think You Can Dance and ice cream? Yes please! Tradition has started back!! Every Monday is SYTYCD night. We couldn't help but get ice cream after dinner.

Becca: Please note that I asked Rhett to get me a spoon. He comes back with a ladle. He thinks he has pregnancy jokes, haha. Also, please excuse the sans makeup face. Who really wears makeup during summer break? ;-)

Shopping Trip!

Now that we both know the gender, we made a trip to the new outlets to visit Carters. It was so fun looking at clothes together!

Becca: They didn't have much of what I was looking for but I can't blame them. I'm looking for winter during the summertime....not sure what I expected ;) I did get Landon a couple of things (pics soon) and Liam the cutest winter jacket on clearance! It was sooo fun looking at girl clothes with Amy. Once I have Amy's taste down I can not wait to live vicariously spoil her! (PS- Amy you look fantabulous in this picture!)
Amy: Also, we can't forget how difficult it was to get this picture. We asked a fairly young sales associate to take it for us and she was happy to help. However, after she took a few, we looked at them and she had just our faces, no store in the background and she was looking up at our faces, not to mention the picture was blurry. Bless her heart. We asked for a picture a little further back and finally ended up with the one above. I thought everyone knew how to work the camera on phones these days???

Announcement!!

It was really weird for me this time around announcing. We told almost everyone really early on when we were expecting Liam. However, we learned it's really hard for people to keep secrets. This time around we told very few people. We told my mom first. She and I are really close and it doesn't hurt that she lives really close and is a nurse. We didn't tell her in any cool or cute way which I wish we had now, but she doesn't care because she's awesome. Next, I told Amy because how could I not?! She came over to tell me about her being pregnant and I couldn't take it anymore and threw my pregnancy test at her (gross?? Sorry Amy. Just realized I threw a pee stick at you and sorry if I took away from you telling me your fantabulous news) We were sooooo excited to be pregnant at the same time! We knew it could happen but we knew it was in God's hands. Lastly I told my principal and twin at work. I'm still so grateful for my twin Chicola and principal Carlyle (do any of you other teachers out there only go by last names with coworkers too? I mean, what's the big deal with first names anyway?!). They are so amazing at keeping secrets, taking care of me, and taking care of my kids when I had doctors appointments.

We knew we wanted to wait until we found at the gender to announce to everyone else. My obgyn checks for gender around 15-16 weeks. At 12 weeks 5 days I had a regular appointment but no ultrasound. After listening to the heartbeat on the doppler I got even more anxious to see little baby. My doctor came in and I asked him if I could possibly see little one and being the best doctor on the planet, he of course said yes. I went to the ultrasound room and while Mrs. Jane was starting I asked her if we could peek to see if she may be able to just guess. Well, when she moved the wand that way, there wasn't much guessing. Baby #2 looked all BOY!!!! She said she was 98 percent certain. As much as I was hoping for a girl, I wasn't disappointed to see another little boy.

I told Rhett that evening and he laughed like I did. I think he had a proud I make all boys, slam chest moment :) We went a couple days later to have a shirt made for Liam. In case you can't read it in the pictures below it says, Future Super Big Brother. We had him wear it over to our in law's house to tell them and to my parent's house to show my dad. Rhett's parents were so excited. Bless their hearts, it's their 5th grandson! My dad was happy but I think he was hoping for a girl, lol. My sister was awesome. She also has two boys so I know were to ask for advice :) We are beyond blessed at the amount of love and support from our family and friends! Oh....apparently I did a good job keeping my news hidden at work because everyone was shocked ;)

By the way, can I just say how hard it was to get a picture of him where you could read the shirt. This 2 year old toddler doesn't stay still long!

Announcement!

WE ANNOUNCED!!! Robbie and I were trying to wait until Robbie's moms birthday but that was May 22nd and I couldn't wait any longer!! We told Robbie's parents on April 26th and we told my dad on May 2nd. We kept trying to figure out a good date to get ALL of the family together and it just wasn't working out.
It was no surprise that Robbie's mother was VERY excited. Tears flowed and so did her drink that she knocked over jumping up to hug us. This will be her first grandchild :)
Robbie's father is a quiet man and just to get a smile and several words out of him was the best reaction we could have hoped for!
I told my father by myself because Robbie had to work, like usual. This will be his 4th grandchild but his first from me so he was over the moon excited and happy!
The rest of the family got told at different times and then we made our big Facebook announcement. The out pour of love and congratulations was overwhelming. We knew our baby would be loved by so many!
